Special Message from Alice Frazier

March 13, 2023
Since 1871, your bank has been committed to operating a safe and sound community bank. Your ongoing confidence and trust are of utmost importance to us. Over the past few days there has been news about the unfortunate regulatory closure of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank, resulting in FDIC receivership.

Anticipating you may have questions, we are providing important information that significantly differentiates BCT and strongly positions BCT to withstand market uncertainties.

I hope these facts will help answer any questions you may have.

  • As a community bank, BCT is well positioned to continue to serve our clients and community. We were chartered over 151 years ago and expect to serve this community for generations to come.
  • Like the communities we serve, our clients are  both consumers and businesses of varying sizes without a concentration in any one industry or maturity.   As such, exposure to risks in any one industry or concentration is reduced.
  • We serve a wide geography, including West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
  • We take a prudent approach to risk-taking and investments, with corresponding audits performed regularly.   Our credit quality remains pristine with no non-performing assets as of our most recent earnings report on December 31, 2022.
  • We exceed all regulatory measures of a well-capitalized financial institution.
  • In the spirit of transparency, we post our quarterly and annual financial statements on our website.  You may find that information here:  https://ir.mybct.bank/corporate-overview/corporate-profile/default.aspx
  • As a community bank, we take pride in our relationship-based business model focused on building long-term trust with our clients.  After all, we live in your community, too, and your success is our success.
  • If you have questions about your deposit accounts insurance coverage, or would like to learn more about FDIC insurance and how it works, I encourage you to access the following resources, contact your local branch, or call our Client Care Center at 1-800-296-8431.

Lastly, we remain at the helm and on course as your community bank of over 151 years.  You have complete access to our experienced team of local bankers.  We stand ready to assist you at all times and look forward to doing so.
