TEXT AND CALL "SPOOFING"

Some clients have reported receiving fraudulent text messages and calls claiming to be from "Potomac Bank Online Security" or "Potomac Bank Fraud Center". Calls may use our official number (1-800-296-8431). Texts may be followed by a fake phone call using our official number. If they ask for your account information or any personal information, it is a scammer.
Helpful Reminders:
- Potomac Bank will never call, text, or email you unsolicited and ask for your personal or account information.
- Do not click on any links or phone numbers in texts claiming to be from Potomac Bank.
- Do not answer or return calls from 1-800 numbers claiming to be from Potomac Bank.
- Always call Potomac Bank's Client Care Center directly at 1-800-296-8431 to verify any contact.

SOCIAL MEDIA FRAUD TACTIC - Direct Messaging and "Chat"
A new fraud tactic is using Facebook Business Messenger (Chat) to solicit information. The requesters will look like a business or other page you may have Followed. Similar techniques are being used on other platforms as well.
We offer the same advice as always. If you are contacted by anyone on Facebook, or by text, email, regular mail, telephone call... NEVER provide account or personal/private information when you are contacted. If in doubt, hang up, close, delete, etc. and contact us directly by physically visiting a branch or physicallly dialing our number.
Remember, we will never contact you asking for any of the following:
- Account number
- Online Banking credentials
- Debit Card PIN
- Social Security Number
- Private information
If someone contacts you and asks for any private or bank account information, delete!
